The Cadillac Allanté is a two-door, two-seater luxury roadster produced by Cadillac from 1987 until 1993. It used a Cadillac chassis and running gear with a body built in Italy by coachbuilder Pininfarina. It was expensive to produce with the complete bodies flown to Detroit for final assembly. Over 21,000 were built during its seven-year production run.

Originally designed to compete with the Mercedes-Benz SL and Jaguar XJS, the Allanté originally featured a slightly modified variant of the 4.1 L V8 used across Cadillac's model line. This was expanded to 4.5 L in 1989, and upgraded to the 4.6 L L37 Northstar in its final year, 1993.

This particular Allante is a 1993 (the rarest and most desired) in the very desirable Polo Green. It has been in my family for some time and well maintained. The high speed (either V or Z speed rating as this car is speed limited by factory at 143mph) Michelin tires have less than 100 miles on them, and it was just lubrication Serviced. The battery is also new.

I bought the car to keep at my lake house, but it just isn't driven enough to justify keeping it. Because it is now over 25 years old, it no longer is required any more than a safety inspection if you have ordinary plates, not even that if you plate with cheap 5-year Antique plates. I insure through Haggerty with Stated Value insurance of $15,000 replacement for less than $200 a year.

This car's body looks like new with bright paint (never spent a night outside) without a scratch, ding or chip. No Chips or stars in windshield. It drives, steers, and runs like brand new. Everything works with exception of

1. Speedometer sometimes gives inaccurate reading (most likely cheap wheel sensor) but tach will read correctly and the speed control is unaffected and works properly - so I never was worried about it.
2. The AC just started to display low freon in information center. It had been working beautifully for years - so I'm guessing there's a slow O-ring leak that ultraviolet dye would find. Because. mostly drive car with top down - there's not been sufficient motivation to add dye and drive around.

These cars had something like 23 computers in them, instead of the modern ECU. As such they'd drain batteries if not driven for long periods of time. I added a low power battery conditioner in the truck - hooked to the battery. If I'm unsure if I'll drive in next week (usually), I plug it in to keep the battery fully charged. It comes with the car.

It is rare to find a car in this great condition, which stills drives as nice as it did when new. I also have a Medium Montana blue 93, which I bought new. I love these unique cars so much that the blue one will still be in my garage the day I die. You will be hard-pressed to find a better driving/looking 93 for near the price. Fly in & drive home. I'd not think twice to drive to Alaska or South America.
